PRIVACY

The privacy of our families, donors and volunteers is a top priority. We are committed to protecting the information you share—and we do not share individual data (names, addresses, demographics) without your consent. We never sell or give our mailing lists to other organizations or individuals.

HOW DO WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT?

When you participate our online chat tool, share your information in our “Get Connected” function, attend a DSG event, donate to the organization, sign up for our mailing list or request information about our services, DSG will ask for your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number. We may also request some demographic information such as gender, age of the individual with Down syndrome, ethnicity and other information about your family. The demographic information may be used in the aggregate for reporting or grant writing purposes. For example, we may tell a funder that 25% of our mailing list resides out of state and that the median age of individuals with Down syndrome who attended our Awareness Walk was 12 years old. We do not release individual data for reporting or funding purposes. If you request information or help for a particular individual and give DSG permission, we may share the individual data with a parent support volunteer or another agency that may offer appropriate services.

OUR USE OF WEBSITE LOG FILES AND ONLINE CHAT TOOL

When visiting our website, we automatically log your IP address, your browser type and your access times. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you may be leaving the DSG site and entering another website. These sites may independently collect or request information about you and we encourage you to read the privacy statement of these linked sites as their privacy policy may differ from ours.

SECURITY

We follow generally accepted standards to store and protect the personal information we collect, both during transmission and once received and stored, including utilization of encryption where appropriate. We utilize Let’s Encrypt for our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), a networking protocol designed for securing connections between web clients and web servers over an insecure network, such as the internet.
